I’m watching The Pursuit of Happyness trailer here in Youtube and will follow it up later by watching (hopefully) the whole film.

I have heard a lot of reviews that this is a very inspiring movie, unfortunately I missed watching this before so I am trying my luck this time.

Maury: Angel Has Found Her Father

I was really touched by this clip from the Maury’s show. Kim asked for Maury’s help in controlling her teen Angel from her promiscuous behavior. She came to the show not once, but twice.

I am not a mother yet, but I can feel her mother’s suffering and so I understand why she needs other people’s help. Angel really came to the show as herself then, displaying a distasteful behavior her mom dislikes.

After almost two encounters on the show, Angel already turned her life around and now got a surprise of her life. Her dad was on Maury’s show and wanted to be reunited with Angel. I cried over watching this clip, because Angel has found peace in changing for the best and have found the missing piece of her life.

Loving the Banana Seat Bike

When was the last time you rode a bike? I remembered that I was in my teenage years when I rode my last banana seat bike.

I loved every minute of it. I went from one subdivision to another just to pass time while biking. It also helped me sweat too much hehe, thanks to the speed that I used to keep while biking.

Yes, it was long ago and I really miss doing it that I am planning to buy a new bike for me. Good thing my husband Johann also loved the idea of us doing it because we seriously have a lot of exercising to do hehe.

I am now scouting for great bike deals because I want to enjoy my weekends outside. Just a great option and break from all my blogging activities.

Chicken Curry and Bonding with the Family

Chicken Curry for Dinner

This is what I ate for dinner. I am not that adventurous when it comes to trying out new food.

That’s why when I have found out that Chicken Curry is somewhat ‘Indian’ food, my parents told me that I am not that picky at all.

And so there goes my love for chicken curry. I love it especially when my parents cook it for me. I like it when the sauce looks more orange-y rather than the usual yellow one. Of course, I would have my extra servings when it is not too spicy because I know that my taste buds can only tolerate it to a certain level.

It is always a joy to bond with your family with great food and booze. How about you? When was the last time you ate chicken curry and had a great bonding time with your family?

My Dad Has Taken a Break From Cooking

Since my dad has gone home for his much-needed vacation, he has yet to cook a complete meal for us. I guess he is really just on vacation so he has delegated the cooking to my mom. I can’t blame him. Everyday he has been cooking and now that he has the time to relax, he is just enjoying his sweet, free time.

But since he will be here for Christmas, I bet he would not be able to resist to prepare some food for our Noche Buena. And since he loves to grill, I’m sure he will be setting up our old grill by Christmas eve. I can’t wait to taste some of his delicious barbecues and pork chops once more!

First Post After Surviving Typhoon Ondoy

Typhoon Ondoy really changed a lot of lives in the Philippines. He left a lot of garbage, mud, water that are still waist deep in some areas.

I never thought that I will experience being stranded in our house’s second floor for days, as we watch the flood waters rise. I am really surprised as everything happened so quickly that our efforts became nothing to save a lot of my parent’s merchandise. This was aside from the appliances and a lot of personal effects that would have been still useful today, if not for what happened almost two weeks ago.

We are still in the process of cleaning the house and exposing our wet goods during the day, hoping that the sun will make it dry. As for the rest, we have decided to throw those away instead of salvaging those items. I was hurt that I have to let go of a lot of things, but what I am thankful for is that my family is still intact. We are really thankful that the Lord gave us a chance to survive this calamity and appreciate more of His blessings.

How about you? Have you been hit by Typhoon Ondoy as well? How did you survive after the storm?

The Chef Dad is Finally Coming Home!

Any daughter will be as happy as I am now if your Dad will finally come home for a vacation. See that smile on my face?

Yes, it has been more than 10 months since my Dad left for Bermuda. It was such a regular thing for us because I am used to see him leave us for another country. I know that he is doing this so he can help provide for our needs. But that was before.

Now that we are finally done with our studies and are both considered professionals in our field, I would like him to finally settle down with us. I would like him and my mom to enjoy their married life and make up for all the lost times because they are away from each other. I know that it won’t be easy for my Dad to just do that, because I knew him as a workaholic and he really loves what he is doing for a living. So I guess we still have to count few more years before this will finally happen.

But for now, I am just so excited to finally see him again, just like any daughter of an Overseas Filipino Worker.

Earn 50K in your Own Backyard

I am watching ‘Kalye‘ (Road), one of ABS-CBN’s public affairs programs. I found one of their topics blog worthy so I would like to share it with you.

The topic was all about people from the provinces who settle in Metro Manila, hoping to find some greener pastures. They are claiming that there’s no hope to earn money if you are in the province.

This notion was denied by some of their ‘subjects’ who is now earning more than 50K by planting crops and vegetables on their 1,500 square meter farm. Some even make money from their own backyard. The segment showed some of the properties that they got out of their efforts working in the backyard.

See, you can still earn more like a call center manager in the Metro only if you know how to maximize your talent and resources, without leaving your backyard. And that’s what I can consider as a real ‘greener pasture’.

Hoax on Former President Cory Aquino's Death Report

Have you heard about the hoax circulating Former President Corazon Aquino has already died?

Supporters are still trying to tie a yellow ribbon in support for Cory Aquino’s speedy recovery so news circulating that the Former President is dead should stop.

I just find it very insensitive when other people are trying to mix up everything that they get from all sources and trying to make some news out of it. It is just so plain irresponsible that people are starting to pick it up and spread the word around because the ‘news’ started to spread like wildfire.

After I scanned both news, I felt bad for the Aquino family. I know that everyone wanted to know every development on her condition but it will also make matters worse for them because a lot also has been trying to take advantage of the situation.

Please do not believe every detail that you will get just because you wanted to get the ‘scoop’. If you haven’t confirmed the information from their authorized representative, better stop speculating because you are just hurting the family’s feelings in the process. Let us respect their privacy and let them be the ones to provide us information as soon as they have time to do so.
